THE STORYLINE:Â
· Kennesaw State played its first two matches in the Creeds and Crests Classics against Tulsa and Texas State on Friday, September 2. The Owls went 0-2 on the day losing to Tulsa in four sets and Texas State in three.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
Tulsa Match: The Owls came out of the gates hot taking an early lead against Tulsa going up 19-12 in the first set. The Hurricanes got it going with their service game that ignited the rest of the team and they closed the opening set on a 13-4 run to take the first set 25-23 from the Owls.

In the second set, the roles were reversed as Tulsa built a strong lead early, but the Owls responded with a run of their own to tie the score at 21. With the score tied at 23, KSU closed out the set with two straight points to tie the set at one.

After dropping the third set, Kennesaw State had two set points late in the fourth, but TU kept battling and ran off three straight points to win the final set 27-25 to seal the match in four.

Texas State Match: Texas State and Kennesaw State faced off on Friday night in the Creeds and Crests Classic and the host team beat the Owls 3-0.

Texas State took control in the first set using an 8-1 run to take a 17-10 lead before clinching the first set 25-16.

In the second set, KSU tied up the score at 17, but Texas State grabbed the lead back with a 5-1 run to go up 22-18. After sealing the second set, Texas State went on to win the third set and the match.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:Â
· Against Tulsa,
Anaiah Boyer stepped up for the Owls with nine kills in the fourth set. She finished with a match high of 17 against the Hurricane.
·
Katarina Morton finished with 38 digs for the day averaging 5.43 per set. Against Tulsa, she had 20 digs, which gives her more than 20 digs in four of the six matches this season.

Kennesaw State will finish out the tournament with a match against Stephen F. Austin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 3.
