AUGUSTA, Ga. –
Christopher Guglielmo shot a third-round 3-under par 69 to lead Kennesaw State during the final round of the 3M Augusta Invitational that concluded Sunday at the par-72, 7,231-yard Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
Guglielmo's effort helped the Owls post a 6-over par 294 and finish the 54-hole event in ninth place at 6-over par 870. Kennesaw State carded rounds of 286 and 290 during Saturday's opening day of play.
In a field that included 10 teams ranked in Golfstat's Top 50, fourth-ranked Illinois topped the 15-team field with a 27-under par total of 837 to finish three shots ahead of No. 2 Texas. Host and No. 35 Augusta (846, -18) placed third and was followed by No. 3 Georgia (854, -10) and No. 14 South Florida (856, -8).
Kennesaw State junior
Teremoana Beaucousin led the Owls, tying for 25th with an even-par total of 216, one shot ahead of teammate Guglielmo, who finished at 1-over par 217.
Sophomore
Wyatt Larkin (221) tied for 41st, while sophomore
Fredrik Nilehn (222) and freshman
Jake Fendt (229) tied for 45th and 64th, respectively.
Beau Hossler of Texas claimed individual medalist honors after recording an 11-under par total of 205 to finish two shots in front of Charlie Danielson of Illinois and Tennessee's Chad Merzbacher. Both players concluded play at 9-under par 207.
Kennesaw State will be back in action on Saturday (April 9) when it opens play in the Irish Creek Collegiate hosted by Charlotte at Irish Creek Country Club in Charlotte, N.C.
