OPENING TEE

Senior Shaun Cook will represent the Kennesaw State men's golf team in the NCAA Division I Athens Regional.
 
The tournament is scheduled for May 18-20. The format calls for 18 holes of stroke play to be played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
 
The event will take place at UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga. The course will be played as a Par 71 at 7,253 yards. The University of Georgia is the host institution.
 
Cook is the third Owl to compete as an individual at the NCAA Championships. Claes Borregaard (2024 and 2025) and Jeff Karllson also made it back in 2010.
 
 
 
COOK THIS SEASON
Cook collected first-team all-conference honors from Conference USA after posting a team-best 70.67 scoring average this season. His scoring average currently ranks second in program history. He led the team with 19 rounds at par or better and was KSU's top finisher in five events. His 19 rounds at par or better are tied for eighth in program history for a single season.
 
 
Cook, a Norcross, Georgia, native, recorded the following highlights this season:
 
Won the Scrappy at Cobblestone with rounds of 69-73-69 for a 2-under-par total.

Finished third at the J.T. Poston Invitational with a 6-under-par total of 204.

Tied for eighth at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at 4-under-par 206.

Tied for 11th at the CUSA Men's Golf Championship at 4-under par.
 

 NCAA REGIONAL FORMAT
 
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals not on those qualifying teams who will compete in the finals.
 
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams at each regional will advance to the finals. Playoffs and tiebreakers will be used, if necessary, to determine advancement to the finals. The games committee will do everything possible to complete 54 holes within the scheduled three-day period.

The top five teams and the low individual not on one of those five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship May 29-June 3 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's Champions Course in Carlsbad, Calif.
