BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Lucy Mills led Kennesaw State with four goals and three assists, but it wasn't enough against Gardner-Webb as the Owls fell 17-13 in Boiler Springs, North Carolina.

Facing an early deficit, KSU needed a jump-start and Mills and Jackie Kisthardt provided that with two goals each to keep the Owls in the game.

With under a minute to play in the opening 30 minutes, Olivia Hokanson put one in the net to bring the Owls within 9-6 at halftime.

The Runnin' Bulldogs came out of the break and seized momentum scoring the first four goals in the second half.

KSU made a late 4-1 run to get back within three goals with 9:44 remaining in the game, but Gardner-Webb didn't let the Owls get any closer than that.

Sydney Farwick, Connor Zophy and Hokanson all finished with two goals in the game. Farwick also led the team winning five draw controls.

Kennesaw State will be back on the road this weekend as they take on Coastal Carolina on Sunday, March 13 at 2 p.m.

On Gardner Webb
"It's difficult to continue to begin games where we have to work out of a deficit. Gardner Webb came out ready to compete and execute their game plan and we did not. With the quick turnaround to face Coastal Carolina, the team is prepared to put in the work to change this trend."
 - Head Coach Kristina Llanes
