CONWAY, S.C. – Kennesaw State women's lacrosse dropped a tough battle to Coastal Carolina 15-5 in Brooks Stadium on Sunday, March 13.

Facing an early deficit against the Chanticleers, freshmen Haley Swift and Shannon Moore put the Owls on the board to cut the score to 4-2.

On Moore's goal, Connor Zophy won the draw control and found her on a breakaway and got the Owls within two.

Later in the half, Olivia Hokanson extended her goal scoring streak to 13 games with her 12th of the season to make the score 5-3 with 14:39 remaining in the first half.

Coastal buckled down on defense after that and extended their lead to 10-3 at halftime.

In the second half, Lucy Mills and Monica Albertson each had goals for the Owls.

Kennesaw State will be back in action on the road next Sunday, March 20 against Radford at 3 p.m.

On Coastal Carolina
"Today we needed to be more assertive on the 50/50 opportunities right off the draw, and we held back in the first half a little bit that caused the deficit. We were hoping our offensive leaders would step up more, where they would take calculated risks, but they fell short on being more assertive there. We'll learn from this and move on as we have two more really good opportunities before heading into conference play."
 - Head Coach Kristina Llanes

NOTES
- Olivia Hokanson scored today in the first half extending her goal-scoring streak to 13 games.
- Two freshmen scored goals today as Haley Swift and Shannon Moore scored the first two goals of the day.
