Tee TimesOPELIKA, Ala. – Led by junior
Christopher Guglielmo, Kennesaw State received balanced scoring throughout its lineup during the second round of the Tiger Invitational at the par-72, 7,149-yard Grand National Lake Course to move into sole possession of third place after 36 holes.
The Owls received a 1-under par 71 from Guglielmo and even-par 72 scores from sophomore
Fredrik Nilehn and freshman
Buster Bruton to post a 4-over par 292 to tie host and No. 5 Auburn for the low round of the day. Kennesaw State is at 7-over par 583 for the tournament and six shots behind the first-place Tigers (577). Troy is in second place at 3-over par 579.
"Today was one of those days where scores could easily get out of hand," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "With breezy conditions, tough hole locations and tricky greens, the golf course showed its teeth. Coach (Eric) Hodgson and I encouraged the guys early in the round to stay patient and disciplined with their decisions and they responded well."
Nilehn's even-par 72 helped him move into a tie for third place with a 1-under par 143 and three shots off the lead held by Troy's Luke Moser, who is a 4-under par 140. Guglielmo moved from a tie for 47th after the first round to a tie for 18th with a 3-over par total of 147.
Freshman
Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres (149, +5) is tied for 27th, while Bruton (150, +6) is tied for 36th and freshman
Jake Fendt (151, +7) is tied for 43rd.
"We were able to maintain our position, yet create some separation with other teams," Odom said. "Hats off to Fred, Chris and Buster for stepping up with some impressive rounds. Tomorrow will be another challenge that we look forward to taking on."
The Tiger invitational concludes on Tuesday (Mar. 8) with Kennesaw State once again grouped with Auburn and Troy. The teams will tee off 10:24 a.m. (ET) for the first hole and all the action can be followed live at
