Christopher Guglielmo shot an even-par 72 to lead Kennesaw State during Monday's second round of the Linger Longer Invitational at the par-72, 7,073-yard Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.
Conditions proved more challenging for the 13-team field on day two as leader and No. 12 Alabama was the only team to post an under par score. The Owls, who entered the day in second place, carded an 11-over par 299 and are at 1-over par 577 for the tournament.
Alabama leads the tournament with a 9-under par 567, three shots ahead of No. 21 Virginia (570, -6). Augusta (572, -4), ranked No. 39, is in third, five shots ahead of Kennesaw State.
"Today the pin placements were a little more challenging and the wind was a little bit stronger," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "It was one of those days where it was just more difficult to score overall. We had a couple guys get off to slow starts and couldn't afford any mistakes from there.
"Overall, we lost a little a ground but we're still in the mix for a very nice finish here," Odom added. "We're in fourth place in a pretty good field and we're paired with Georgia and Purdue tomorrow and we still have a great opportunity to have a very nice finish."
Kennesaw State enters the final round with two team players sitting in the Top 11 as sophomore
Fredrik Nilehn is tied for third with at 5-under par 139 following a 1-over par 73 in the second round. Guglielmo is tied for 11th at 2-under par 142.
Lee McCoy of Georgia and Virginia's Jimmy Stanger are tied for the individual lead at 7-under par 137, two shots ahead of a group of three players at 5-under par 139.
