Nilehn's 6-under par 66 and under-par rounds from juniors Chris Guglielmo (70),

"Today was a great day for the Owls from top to bottom. We took advantage of the scoring opportunities and the course setup," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "We have placed ourselves in a great spot on a course that is familiar. The next two rounds will get more difficult with hole locations and tee settings but the guys are ready for the challenge."
Nilehn, who produced a bogey-free round that included six birdies, is tied for third, one shot off the lead shared by Purdue's Luis Fernando Barco and Matthew Perrine of Baylor. Both players posted a 7-under par 65.
"Fredrik had a flawless round of 66 that surprises none of us knowing how hard he works," Odom said. "He's been very close to some low scores the last few weeks."
Guglielmo continued his recent stretch of solid golf with a 2-under 70 and is tied for 14th, while Beaucousin and Larkin finished at 1-under par 71 and are tied for 22nd. Freshman
Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres is tied for 56th after shooting a 4-over par 72.
Freshman
Jake Fendt (T-22nd) and senior
Carlos Segura Oliva (T29th), who were playing as individuals, carded rounds of 71 and 72.
"I really like how this group is playing right now," Odom said. "Their decisions and efforts reflect many of the new ideas that we have embraced as a team."
