ATHENS, Ga. – Kennesaw State junior Christopher Guglielmo continued his solid spring play as he shot rounds of 71-69 to finish at 4-under par 140 and tie for fifth place at the 36-hole Southern Intercollegiate Championships that was contested Monday at the par-72, 6,917-yard Athens Country Club in Athens.
 
Guglielmo's performance helped the Owls post a 14-over par 590 to tie for fifth place. Host and second-ranked Georgia captured the 13-team event with a 20-under par 556 to finish three shots ahead of No. 27 Arkansas.
 
Liberty (579, +3) finished third and was followed by Furman (584, +8). Kennesaw State, No. 36 Augusta State and USC Upstate all tied for fifth.

Arkansas' Nicolas Echavarria and Greyson Sigg of Georgia shared individual medalist honors after carding 7-under par scores of 137. 
 
Freshman Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres, who competed as an individual, turned in another strong performance as he shot a career-low 3-under par 69 in the second round to record a 2-under par 142 and tie for ninth while matching his career-best finish.
 
Sophomore Wyatt Larkin also turned in a career-best score, carding a 4-under par 68 in his opening round to tie teammate Fredrik Nilehn for 22nd with a 2-over par 146. Freshmen Buster Bruton (157, +3) and Jake Fendt (161, +17) placed 58th and 68th, respectively.       
 
Kennesaw State will have quick turnaround before it is back in action when it co-hosts, along with Mercer, the 13-team Linger Longer Invitational that opens Sunday (Mar. 20) at Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.
