WBB: No. 5 KSU Heads To Deland For QuarterFinal Matchup With No. 4 Stetson

The Owls will enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed.

A LOOK AT THE MATCHUP …
The Kennesaw State women's basketball program enters the Atlantic Sun Conference quarterfinals matchup as the No. 5 seed, trekking down to Deland, Florida to take on No. 4 Stetson Friday (March 4) evening. The game be on ESPN3 and has a start time set for 7 p.m.

» Head coach Nitra Perry is in her fourth season, holding a 41-79 overall record with the Owls.
» Coach Perry won her 40th game as a head coach last Monday against North Florida.

11 – The Owls hit 11 3-pointers in a single game for the second time this season in a 68-64 win over Lipscomb  
16 – Allison Johnson posted a career-high 16 points against NJIT.   
20 –  Jasmine McAllister posted a season-high 20 points against NJIT, six shy of her career high.   
35 – Jasmine McAllister has 35 blocks this season, and ranks 6th all-time in blocks in KSU history.
578 – Jasmine McAllister has 578 career rebounds, which ranks third all-time in KSU D-I history.
715 – Jasmine McAllister has 719 career points, ranking 6th all-time in D-I history at KSU.
1,000 – Deandrea Sawyers' layup in the first quarter at Lipscomb gave her 1,000th career points.
 
TWICE AS NICE…
- The junior forward notched two-straight 23-point performances against Lipscomb and North Florida, taking home A-Sun Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks.
- Aareon Smith is averaging 8.6 points per game and shooting 34 percent from the floor. She has made a total of 49 3-pointers, which ranks second behind Kelly Dulkoski's 74.
 
3-AND-D…
- The Owls come into the weekend with 172 made 3-pointers, compared to holding their opponents to 135 on the season – a plus-37 advantage from beyond the arc this season.
- KSU ranks second in the league in 3-point FG percentage at .330, hitting 172-of-522 this season. 
- Kennesaw State also ranks third in the league in 3-point FG percentage defense, holding opponents to .296 from beyond the arc.
- The Owls have hit 11 3-pointers in two games, both being on the road. It was one make shy of tying a single-game record of 12 and two shy on breaking the mark for most 3-pointers made in a single game.
 
DOUBLE-TROUBLE…
- Allison Johnson posted her first career double-double as an Owl last Saturday, posting career-highs of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
- Johnson, however, tallied 16 points and 13 rebounds on the road at NJIT last week, totaling new career highs.
- In fact, Johnson has totaled both her double-doubles and career high numbers against the Highlanders.
- The Owls, in fact, are 4-0 when the freshman scores in double-figures this season.
-  For the season, Johnson is averaging 4.6 points and 5.1 rebounds in 17.7 minutes of action.
 
1,000!!!…
- Deandrea Sawyers has made 121 3-pointers over her first two seasons with the Owls. The most made 3-pointers in a season was 78 by Taylor Mills in 2011-12, which Sawyers fell just 15 shy of breaking that record.
- Sawyers hit a season-high three 3-pointers at Stetson, and recorded 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.
- Sawyers has made only 13 3-pointers this season, but still managed to average 8.6 points per game.
- Sawyers hit the Owls' first bucket of the night at Lipscomb last Saturday, lifting her to 1,001 career points. She now has 1,010 career points, which is 375 points away from breaking Kristina Wells' mark of 1,374 points as the D-I all-time leading scorer in KSU history.
 
MILESTONES…
- Deandrea Sawyers hit the Owls' first bucket of the night at Lipscomb last Saturday, lifting her to 1,001 career points. She now has 1,010 career points, which is 375 points away from breaking Kristina Wells' mark of 1,374 points as the D-I all-time leading scorer in KSU history.
- Jasmine McAllister has 715 career points, which ranks sixth all-time in D-I KSU history. She also has pulled down 578 career rebounds, which ranks third in the all-time D-I record books.
- Karly Frye's excellent Owl career is coming to an end, as she ranks fourth on the all-time D-I list in KSU history.
 
TEAM FACTS…
-The Owls 60-53 win against New Orleans on Nov. 29 marked the 70th win all-time at the KSU
Convocation Center.
- Kennesaw State is four wins away from reaching 350 wins in the NCAA (335-281 entering the season) all-time.
- KSU welcomed back seven letterwinners from a season ago and has seven newcomers that make up the 2015-16 roster.
- Kennesaw State has had SIX players (Aareon Smith, Iceis Walker, Tayler Smith, Allison Johnson, Kelly Dulkoski & Clara Young) record career highs this season.
- Clara Young also recorded a career-high eight assists on the road against Xavier on Dec. 21, 2015.
- In addition, Young also recorded her career-high six rebounds against FGCU on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
- Aareon Smith's two games of 23 points is the highest total an individual has scored this season in a single game.
- Jasmine McAllister has recorded six games of 15 rebounds in a single game, the highest total this season from any Owl.
