ON DECKFollowing a 4-0 weekend at the Dr. Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament, the Kennesaw State softball team will make its first road trip of the 2016 season when it travels south to take on Georgia State in Atlanta on Wednesday (Mar. 2). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. (ET). 
The Owls begin the week 10-1, equaling their best start to a season since beginning the 2013 campaign 10-1. Kennesaw State opened the year 6-0 before suffering its first setback to Bradley on Feb. 20 and bounced back to win four in a row. 
The Owls hosted the Dr. Bobbie Bailey Memorial Tournament over the weekend, the third of three consecutive tournaments hosted by Kennesaw State, and opened play with a 2-1 win over Western Michigan on Friday (Feb. 26) before posting victories over UT Martin (7-6) in eight innings and topping Alabama A&M, 8-7. KSU concluded the tournament with an 8-0, six-inning victory over Alabama A&M on Sunday (Feb. 27). 
PERFECTIONJunior right-hander 
Logan Viers pitched herself into the Kennesaw State record book on Sunday as she tossed a perfect game against Alabama A&M. In six innings of work, Viers struck out six while making just 64 pitches. The effort helped earn her Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week accolades.
ABOUT GEORGIA STATEGeorgia State is currently 9-7 on the season and has won four in a row after posting a 4-1 record at the USF Series Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. Following a 15-2 loss in Friday's opener, the Panthers registered wins over Eastern Michigan (11-0), Seton Hall (10-7), Eastern Michigan (5-0) and Villanova (15-2). Georgia State is batting .265 as a team and has four players batting .300 or better. Sophomore catcher Ivie Drake leads the Panthers with a .439 average. Georgia State has a 3.75 team ERA and is led in the circle by senior Katie Worley who is 4-0 with a 2.60 ERA and team-leading 36 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings. 
NOTES* Kennesaw State is 10-1 to begin a season for the first time since 2013. The Owls finished that season 34-20.
* The perfect game by 
Logan Viers marked the 37th no-hitter in program history dating back to 1991 and was the sixth perfect game. It also represents the second perfect game in KSU's NCAA Division I era.
* After her six-strikeout performance on Sunday, Viers has increased her team-leading season total to 43 in 37 2/3 innings.
* In four starts over the weekend, Viers posted a 2-0 record and 1.98 ERA in 17 2/3 innings as she struck out 23 batters and walked just two.
* With two hits on Sunday, 
Courtney Sutter extended her career-long hitting streak to 11 games as she has hit safely in every game this season. Dating back to last season, Sutter has had at least one hit in 15 straight contests.
* The first inning home run by Sutter was her team-leading fifth of the season and increased her career total to 18, moving her within one of the Kennesaw State career top 10 list.
* Senior 
Missy Perkowski leads the Owls with five multiple-RBI games.
* 
Taylor Denton and 
Kara Chambers top the club with six stolen bases each. 
UP NEXTFollowing Wednesday's game at Georgia State, Kennesaw State will return to tournament play when it travels to Columbia, S.C. for the Gamecock Invitational. The Owls will open with UConn on Friday (Mar. 4) before playing host South Carolina later in the day and Michigan State on Saturday (Mar. 5).
