Batting Practice
- The Kennesaw State University baseball program begins its 33rd season of varsity play in 2016 when the Owls take part in the annual Atlanta Classic for three games.
- KSU enters the 2016 season with an all-time record of 1,152-687-2 (.626) entering the season.
- The Owls, who began Division I play in 2006, have an all-time record of 303-267 (.531) in 10 seasons since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference.
- Head coach Mike Sansing enters his 25th season at the helm of the Black and Gold. Sansing holds a career mark of 1,019-549 (.654) as the manager of the Owls.
- Coach Sansing won his 1,000th career game on March 27, 2015 against USC Upstate.
- Sansing's three assistant coaches return for another season with the Owls in 2015. Kevin Erminio enters his 10th season as the assistant head coach and pitching coach, while Derek Simmons and Trey Fowler each return for their fourth season under Sansing. Assistant athletic trainer Chris Archambeault also returns to the Owls' bench for his ninth season.
 
#STAHLING THE ACTION…
- Transfer Erich Stahl has provided a closer mentality for the Owls early on this season.
- Stahl leads the team with four appearances entering the week, and has totaled a perfect 3/3 in save situations.
- Stahl has tossed 4.0 innings, allowing three hits and one run, while holding opponents to a .200 batting average.
- His success has been set up from Richard Lovelady, who has been a proven guy in the backend of the bullpen as well.
- Lovelady has three appearances, allowing just two hits and six punch outs in 3.2 innings of work.
 
TEAM FACTS…
- The Owls are batting .314 in six games, totaling 65 hits, 10 doubles, two triples and nine home runs.
- KSU is a perfect 3-0 when scoring first in a game, and 3-0 when facing a starting right-handed pitcher.
- The Owls have totaled 10 or more hits in five of their six games, winning three of those games going 3-2.
- KSU ranks 11th in the nation in home runs per game, totaling 1.67 per contest led by Austin Upshaw's four.
- The Owls also rank 14th nationally in slugging percentage, recording a .583 percentage in six games.
 
Up, Up And Away…
- Austin Upshaw batted a steady .333 (4-for-12) at the plate against Jacksonville State, giving him a batting average of .458 after six games.
- Upshaw added to his impressive numbers to begin the season with another home run on Saturday, giving him a team-high four homers on the season.
- He also leads the team with seven RBI and a .958 slugging percentage, and also a .480 on-base percentage.
- Upshaw has already totaled ASUN Player of the Week award and also tabbed National Player of the Week from Collegiate Baseball Louisville Slugger.  
 
Dibrell Back On The Bump…
- Sophomore Tony Dibrell will make his second appearance on the mound Tuesday evening against Ohio.
- Dibrell started against Auburn on the road a week ago, but rain forced the action to be postponed.
- For the season, the righty has tossed 3.0 innings allowing just one hit and has recorded five strikeouts.
