KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State showed a lot of resiliency against the Longwood Lancers on Sunday, February 28, but in the end Longwood edged out the Owls 18-15 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

KSU battled back to tie the score up four different times in the game, but couldn't get the lead from Longwood.

Olivia Hokanson continued her hot start to the season scoring three goals and had an assist on one other goal. Connor Zophy also had three goals in the game.

Longwood took the lead immediately scoring four unanswered goals, but Kennesaw State settled in and went on a run of their own, scoring five of the next six goals to tie the score at five behind two goals from Monica Albertson.

The Lancers went back up by as many as three before Megan Nicoletti got her first career goal and then Hokanson and Zophy scored shortly after that to even the score back up a nine.

From there, both teams traded goals into the locker room at 10-10 and then right out of the locker room at 11-11.

After the fourth tie of the game, Longwood went on one more run and the Owls tried to make one more comeback, but fell just short at the final whistle.

After playing in four straight home games to start the season, the Owls will now play three straight on the road. The first road game of the season will be at Gardner Webb on Wednesday, March 9 at 4 p.m.

On the Longwood Game
"Coming through the last 10 days, the team has worked really hard and the turnaround has been short between games. I think that considering the opponent we played against today, we played as hard as we could. Our breakdowns came on the front of lack of discipline on all areas of the ball, but we showed that we were willing to fight for each other and fight for opportunities. Again, Olivia Hokanson had a great game. She hustled after every opportunity that presented itself to her and she really did a nice job leading our offense. Laura Jordan and Alex Bunn worked really hard with each other to get as many defensive stops as possible to transition the ball out. We look forward to continue to work hard during our non-conference schedule to prepare us for April"
- Head Coach Kristina Llanes
