KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team closed out its regular-season home schedule with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Stetson on Senior Day Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

Despite out-shooting the Hatters (7-4-2, 4-0-0) 13-8 and creating scoring chances, the Owls (7-7-1, 2-3-0) were unable to break through against ASUN Conference-leading Stetson.

The lone goal of the match came in the 40th minute when Adrianna Suarez position herself inside the box and was able to finish after being assisted by Anette Morton and Hailey Williams.

Kennesaw State was the more aggressive team in the second half, possessing the ball for much of the period and finished the final 45 minutes with a 9-2 shot advantage. Stetson goalkeeper Emily Plotz withstood the Owls' attack as she recorded five saves during the second half.

BENJI BITES
"You have to credit Stetson. They executed and I told the team it can be a tough sport to play some times," head coach Benji Walton said. "I thought we played well enough to win. They executed their chance and we had some good looks but just didn't get one to go in for us. We just have re-group now and look in the mirror a little bit and get back to work."

WALTON ON THE SENIORS
"The seniors have been amazing. We hated not to be able to get them a win today. I am so proud of them. They have led by example and with their hearts every single day, and have done everything I have asked of them. It's a special group and we're going to keep battling for them and everybody."

THE SENIORS
The seven seniors honored prior to the match were Shannon Driscoll, Kim Fincher, Monica Herrera, Cassidy Kemp, Maggie Gaughan, Catherine McDuff-Viau and Brittney Reed.
