Schedule Social Media: Twitter | Facebook Weekend PreviewThe Kennesaw State men's tennis squad continues its 2016 spring slate with a date against host Belmont University on Friday (Jan. 29) afternoon. The Bruins host the Owls in a non-conference matchup at the Nashboro Village Club.
The Owls are coming off a hard-fought loss to Samford a week ago, dropping the match, 0-4. The men's tennis team is in the midst of its eighth season at the NCAA Division I level that dates back to 2008. Kennesaw State is coming off a 7-12 campaign in 2015, and will have seven letterwinners return from a season ago.
The SeriesFriday's match between Kennesaw State and Belmont will mark the fifth time the two squads will face each other, dating back to the 2008-09 season. The Bruins have won three of the four meetings, with the Owls' last win coming in 2010-11 – which happened to be on the road.
The Last Time OutThe Kennesaw State's men's tennis team opened its 2016 dual match schedule on Friday (Jan. 22) evening, coming up short in a 4-0 decision to Samford at the Pat M. Couring Tennis Pavillion in Birmingham, Alabama.
Playing indoors on three courts, the Owls came out with a lineup of
Simon Pritchard,
Manuel Castellanos,
Alejandro Valencia,
Sam Slade,
David Durham, and
Lucas de Torres Curth.
The Owls' singles lineup fought hard with Samford, as Castellanos dropped a tough match, 7-6, 6-2, to Trey Carter. Valencia also fought hard in his match, dropping a 6-3, 6-2 decision, while Pritchard lost 6-5, 6-2 in his match.
Next UpThe Owls will have to wait two weeks to take on Alabama State on Feb. 12 in Montgomery, Alabama. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
