DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. – Freshman
Jake Fendt carded a final-round 1-over par 73 to finish at 5-over par 221 in his collegiate debut and tie for eighth place at the Rees Jones Invitational that concluded Tuesday (Sept. 22) at the par-72, 7,380-yard Haig Point Golf Course in Daufuskie Island, S.C.
Fendt recorded rounds of 72-76-73 to help the Owls to a 54-hole total of 33-over par 897 and place fourth at the 10-team event. Liberty shot the low score of the tournament during the third round, firing a 4-under par 284 to complete play at 1-over par 865. The Flames finished 21 shots in front of second-place Campbell (886).
Liberty teammates Isaiah Logue and Gabriel Lench shared individual medalist honors with 1-under par totals of 215 to finish one shot ahead of Western Carolina's Tyler Lail (217, +1).
"The conditions were tough today at Haig Point but we were able to make up some ground on the leaderboard," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "I am really proud of Jake finishing with a Top 10 and pacing the team in his first collegiate event.
"Pablo (Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres) also stepped up with his best round (73) of the tournament," Odom added. "We have some time this week and next to prepare for the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate (that begins October 5)."

Wyatt Larkin (74-76-77) tied for 17th at 11-over par 227.
Kennesaw State will have two weeks off before traveling to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate that begins Oct. 5.
