KENNESAW, Ga. –
The Kennesaw State volleyball team lost to the Chattanooga Mocs 3-0 in a midweek match on Tuesday, September 15.

In front of an energetic crowd, the Owls came out and grabbed a 4-1 lead immediately and pushed their lead to 16-11 on a Kelly Marcinek kill. The Mocs weathered the storm and inched their way back by going on a 10-2 run to take a 21-18 lead forcing KSU to use a timeout. Chattanooga didn't give the momentum back and took a 1-0 lead after the first.

After Chattanooga won the second set to go up 2-0, the Mocs once again grabbed an early lead in the third. The Owls trailed by as many as seven in the third set before storming back behind a 9-2 run that put them up 23-22. Trailing by one, the Mocs came up with a big block to tie the score and went on to win the final three points to clinch the match.

Kennesaw State will be back on the court on Friday, September 18 against Georgia Tech at 7 p.m. to finish out non-conference play. The team will be wearing their white jerseys, so the crowd is also encouraged to wear white.

Coach Schunzel on Chattanooga
"Hats off to Chattanooga for coming down extremely focused, engaged and mentally ready to compete at a high level. They took away some of our strength effectively, they served the ball tough and they attacked very well. At times, we did some really good things tonight, but overall we were way to inconsistent with our play. We need to do a better job of making good contacts on the ball and bettering the ball when it's on our side of the net. Way too many times tonight we were scattered, we forced things, we made careless errors and a good team like Chattanooga will make you pay for it. Tonight, that's what happened."
Kennesaw State Head Coach Keith Schunzel
