JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Kennesaw State's men's track and field team won their third straight Atlantic Sun title in dominating fashion on Saturday, May 16. The team totaled 273 points, which was the second most points ever scored in an A-Sun Championship.
The team won 8 of the 15 events on Saturday and totaled 11 total wins on both days of competition. There were 21 events throughout the two days.
Bilal Abdullah won the decathlon with a new meet record score of 7,145 points. He won the 110m hurdles with a new meet record time of 14.62 in the decathlon.
Kaarel Mangusson won three events on Saturday morning and finished second to Abdullah with 6,818 points. After holding a one point lead over night in the team overall point standings, the Owls pushed their lead 54 points and they never looked back on their way to scoring 221 points as a team for the day.
Junior
Joshua Mulder won the most valuable performer award scoring 46 points in the meet. He competed in six different events and compiled one event win on Saturday in the 400 hurdles. He also finished second in the 110m hurdles and the javelin with a toss of 48.51m.
Drew Duggans continued his stellar season by winning the 100m-dash in 10.56 and 200m-dash 20.76 which he broke his previous school record and scoring 20 points total.
The Owls swept the top three spots in the 110m hurdles with
Terrell Singleton winning the race with a time of 14.34.
Zac Davis won the 400m race in a time of 47.67 despite injuring his leg on the last 100m.
KSU closed out the night and the Championship by winning the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:15.83.
There are several athletes that will be traveling back to Jacksonville to compete at North Florida in the preliminary round of the NCAA Championships on May 28-30 to try and qualify for the national championships.
