Competed in the decathlon as a freshman… Placed second at the A-Sun Championships with 5194 points.
 
Indoor
Placed fourth in the heptathlon at the Atlantic Sun Championships with 4647 points… Finished second in the heptathlon at the Samford Invitational with 4633 points.

Prior to KSU
Prior to Kennesaw State, Mangusson was a standout runner for his native country of Estonia… Kaarel competed on the Estonian National team on three different occasions… He was a three time Estonian National Champion in the 400m and 4x400m relay… Also earned runner-up honors and third place in back-to-back seasons in the decathlon.

Born Kaarel Mangusson to Merle Mangusson and Arvo Päästel… Has three siblings, Key Päästel, Kerly Päästel, Triin Mangusson… Goal while at KSU is to earn 8,000 points in the decathlon… Majoring in sports management.
