JACKSONVILLE, Fla –
With a game that went back and forth the whole game, Furman used a 5-1 run that spanned over 13 minutes in the second half to get enough of a lead to hold on for a 12-9 win in the Atlantic Sun Quarterfinals over the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team.

"We made significant adjustments since the last time we faced Furman, both collectively and individually," Kristina Llanes said. "It came down to a few errors that Furman was able to capitalize on."

Elaine Bradley matched a school record with 15 saves in the cage with a .577 save percentage.

Sydney Farwick scored three more goals to give her 43 for the season matching a Kennesaw State single-season record. The Second Team All-Atlantic Sun member scored multiple goals in 12 of the team's 18 games this season.

After Furman struck first in the opening half, Farwick answered with two quick goals in two minutes with Connor Zophy assisting both to take a 2-1 lead.

Then, Furman grabbed the lead back with two goals of their own, only for Kennesaw State to respond with Taylor McGhee and Lucy Mills scoring to give the Owls the lead right back.

The team's traded goals from there to make the score 5-5 at halftime.

Furman came out of the locker room and took a one-goal lead twice, but the Owls kept fighting back to match them.

With the score tied at seven, the Paladins used the decisive 5-1 run to finally get some breathing room from the resilient Kennesaw State squad.

The loss ends the Owls season with five wins on the season improving their win total by four from the previous season.

"This team has shown exceptional growth throughout this season," LLanes said. "While I'm disappointed the season has come to an end, I'm excited knowing that this is just the beginning for this young squad."
