MNT: The Owls Hit the Road to Take on the USC Upstate Spartans

KSU Looks to Wrap Up its Regular Season in Saturday's Match

KENNESAW, Ga. – After successfully earning a pair of wins last week, the Kennesaw State men's tennis team (7-10) return to action this week to close its regular season against USC Upstate on the road. The match is set take place on Saturday (Apr. 11) at 10 a.m. ET in Spartanburg, S.C.
 
Dominating Doubles
KSU has been outstanding in doubles play throughout season. With an overall doubles record of 12-4, the Owls have won the last nine out of eleven competitions; even clinching the doubles point against the No. 58 ranked Troy Trojans and No. 73 Georgia Tech.
 
Latest Action
KSU traveled to Highland Heights, Ky. to take on Northern Kentucky last Thursday before returning home to face Lipscomb in its last home match of the season. On Thursday the Owls defeated the Norse 4-2 on NKU's home court. KSU picked up wins at the No. 1, No.3, No. 5 and No. 6 positions respectively.
 
On Saturday, the Black and Gold dominated the Lipscomb 6-1 at Fair Oaks Park. The Owls clinched the doubles point early, earning wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. KSU finished the match on top, collecting wins at No. 1 through 4 singles and claiming another victory at the No. 6 spot.
 
Simon Pritchard
Sophomore Simon Pritchard (Newport, Wales / Millfield School) has been dominant all season. Leading the Owls with an overall record of 23-9, the reigning A-Sun Player of the Week is 11-5 in singles play and 12-4 in doubles action. While playing at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions in doubles, he and teammate Jorge Wilton have put together a dominant record of 9-1 on the dual-match season.
 
USC Upstate
USC Upstate, led by head coach Dr. Oliver Trittenwein, is currently 5-15 on the dual-match season and 3-2 in conference after collecting wins over Stetson, Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky.
 
The Spartans are coming off a pair of wins on the road and come into the weekend after dominating Lipscomb 6-0 on Thursday (Apr. 2) and posting a 7-0 win over Northern Kentucky on Saturday (Apr. 4).
