COACHES TAKE ON THE WEEKENDDirector of Track and Field and Cross Country Andy Eggerth"This early in the outdoor season everyone is working hard so we can set up a 2nd peak for the outdoor championship. As such, we're not set for big marks and therefore are not doing our primary events. Our combined event athletes will work on their throws, our distance runners will work on their speed, sprinters will do shorter than or longer than their primary distance, and throwers will work on timing of their outdoor events.
We're really just looking at this competition as a specific (and very intense) training opportunity to prepare us for championship competition.
The event to watch this weekend is probably the 400m hurdles.
Joyce Mattagliano will be running it for her first time ever, and Josh Mulder and Bilal both have potential to break the school record and qualify for the NCAA championships."
