A-SUN RELEASE KENNESAW, Ga. – After registering her conference-leading 13th and 14th double-doubles of the season, junior
Jasmine McAllister was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced on Sunday (March 1).
The accolade is McAllister's sixth of the season, which ties the record for most A-Sun Newcomer of the Week honors in a season.
"I am glad that Jasmine's focus this week has paid off," said head coach
Nitra Perry. "She has been working hard and doing what the coaching staff has challenged her to do daily. She has been getting in the gym and bringing energy, which has been awesome for the team."
The Memphis, Tenn., native averaged team-highs with 14 points and 10.5 rebounds, while shooting the ball at a 55 percent clip as the Owls split games against Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb to finish the 2014-15 regular season.
McAllister led the Owls with 13 points and 10 rebounds on the road against the Norse, before turning in 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds in a 75-57 Senior Day victory over the Bisons on Saturday. With the win, the Owls earned their winningest season in the NCAA Division I era with 17 victories this season.
McAllister is leading the Owls with 13.6 points and 10.4 rebounds in her first season in the Black and Gold, while shooting the ball at a 51.1 percent clip from the floor.
