VALENCIA, Calif. – Behind a 3-under par 69 from senior Jimmy Beck, the No. 22 Kennesaw State men's golf team carded a final-round 7-over par 295 to finish at 2-over par 866 and place second at the Jones Invitational that concluded Tuesday (Feb. 24) at the par-72, 7,019-yard Valencia Country Club in Valencia, Calif.

The Owls finished second behind No. 4 USC, which captured the 15-team event with a 14-under par total of 850.

"We did a lot of things well this week but we definitely have some things to improve on," Kennesaw State head coach Jay Moseley said. "I know the guys played hard and we were a bit rusty after a three-month layoff. This event gave us a great idea of where we are as a team and we will improve and be ready for Palmetto in two weeks."

Sophomore Teremoana Beaucousin, who led the tournament after 36 holes, finished third in the individual standings with a 7-under par total of 209, one shot behind Zach Seabolt of Winthrop and USC's Sean Crocker, who tied for first with a 54-hole score of 8-underpar  210. Seabolt went on to defeat Crocker in a two-hole playoff to claim individual medalist honors.

Beaucousin fired rounds of 66-69-74 and his 36-hole total of 9-under par 135 established a career best.

The second place showing marked Kennesaw State's sixth top four finish in six events during the 2014-15 season. The Owls have claimed two tournament titles as they won the Rees Jones Invitational and Pinetree Intercollegiate during the fall.

Beck's final-round 69 helped him finish 14th with a 1-over par total of 217. Freshman Fredrik Nilehn (223) tied for 30th, while seniors Austin Vick (224) and Kelby Burton (228) tied for 35th and 52nd, respectively.

Kennesaw State is next in action on March 9 when it opens play at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C.
