POOLER, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior Kelby Burton carded a final-round 1-under par 71 to finish at 6-under par 210 and capture the 54-hole Savannah Quarters Individual Intercollegiate that concluded Tuesday (Feb. 9) at the par-71 Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga.
 
Burton, who claimed his first collegiate victory, posted rounds of 66-73-71 to record a one-shot victory over Judson Milam of South Carolina Beaufort who finished second at 5-under par 211.
 
"I'm really excited about winning this week and couldn't be happier about my progress over the past few weeks," Burton said. "The support I received from those that came to the tournament to watch or phoned me throughout and after was incredible and I'm so grateful to have so many people cheering me on to do my best.
 
"I'm also very excited about the future and will keep working as hard as I can to deliver more good news to the people that support me and Owl nation," Burton added.
 
Burton was one of four Owls competing in the event as he was joined by junior Carlos Segura Oliva, and freshmen Wyatt Larkin and Paul Doig.
 
Oliva turned in rounds of 69-73-78 to conclude play at 4-over par 220 and tie for 11th, while Larkin and Doig tied for 16th and 27th, respectively, in the 51-player field.
 
The nationally-ranked Owls open their spring schedule on Feb. 23 when they travel to Valencia, Calif. to compete in the Jones Invitational hosted by Pepperdine at the Valencia Country Club. Kennesaw State is currently No. 21 by Golfstat and No. 24 by Golfweek and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
