CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Kennesaw State held the lead late, but Chattanooga overcame the deficit to win 78-66 on Friday, December 18.

The Owls led 58-53 with 8:21 remaining in the game, and Chattanooga went on a 14-2 run over the next two and a half minutes to take a seven-point lead and the Owls couldn't recover.

The win by the Mocs snaps a two-game win streak for Kennesaw State against Chattanooga.

Senior point guard Yonel Brown led the Owls with 24 points. Two other Owls finished the game in double-figures as Bernard Morena had 13 points and Kendrick Ray had 12 points.

After being tied at halftime, the Owls took an eight point lead after Brown made a circus shot that went off the top of the scoreboard and swished through the basket to beat the shot clock.

Chattanooga chipped away at the lead and tied up the score at 58 after a Tre' McLean three. Kendrick Ray answered with a layup at the other end, but on the ensuing possession the Mocs hit another three to take the lead at 61-60.

Chattanooga pushed their lead to 67-60 over that stretch and KSU couldn't overcome the deficit after that.

In the first half, Chattanooga led by as many as five, but Kennesaw State tied it up at halftime after Morena beat the buzzer with a layup.

The Owls have one more game before Christmas. They will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the Indiana Hoosiers next on Tuesday, December 22 at 6 p.m.

Coach Skinner on the Chattanooga Game
"They showed why they are a good team tonight. They played with a lot of composure and got the shots that they wanted. Give them a lot of credit for the things that they did. I didn't think we responded well. We got a little anxious on the offensive end and didn't get the shots that we wanted and they got the shots that they wanted. We had control, but they were able to get control to win the game."
 - Kennesaw State Head Coach Al Skinner
