KENNESAW, Ga. – Needing to win one match to clinch a birth into the 2015 Atlantic Sun Championship, Kennesaw State jumped on Stetson early and never let up in a straight set win on Friday night.

The Owls cruised to an early 10-1 lead behind Kristi Piedimonte and Maddie Jones serving the ball in the first set. Stetson had zero answer and didn't get closer than seven points the rest of the set.

Trailing 1-0, the Hatters tried to respond in the second, but with the score tied at nine, the Owls used three straight kills and a couple of errors from Stetson to reclaim a comfortable lead. The lead was cut down to two, but KSU went on another 4-0 run pushing the lead to 17-12 and closed it out 25-16.

In the third set, KSU wasn't going to let the Stetson back in it using a pair of 4-0 runs in the middle of the set to help close out the match 25-15 on a Jones kill.

Tomorrow, KSU will play Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. The Eagles are in second place in the A-Sun and have a two-match lead over the Owls.

Coach Schunzel on the Sweep of Stetson
"It was awesome to watch our team play a complete match tonight. We've been training really well for a couple of weeks now and both our staff and players have felt like we've gotten a ton better since the last time we played them, and tonight validated that. I'm really proud of the focus and consistent level our entire roster brought for three straight sets. Now, we have an absolute battle in store for us tomorrow night against FGCU. Games like the one coming up in 24 hours are what makes conference matches so exciting. I'm absolutely certain that we will prepare well and be raring to compete come game time."
