KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State staged a furious comeback in the fourth set to seal the victory against FGCU on Senior Night.

Trailing 12-2 in the fourth, the Owls slowly started chipping away at the Eagles big lead with some great serving and timely kills. Down 18-13, Maddie Jones got the Owls within three forcing FGCU to use their final timeout of the set. With the crowd on their feet, a Sydni Shelton kill held off one set point for FGCU and then Piedimonte stepped up and hit an ace to tie the score at 24. Kelly Marcinek had three late kills to give the Owls three match point opportunities and on the final one, FGCU had an attack error to clinch the match for the Owls.

The Owls dropped the opening set and responded by winning three straight for the four-set win.

In the middle of the second set, Jones led the Owls on a 6-0 run that included three blocks in a row from the Owls. The run gave KSU a 10-point lead and they cruised to a 25-13 win in the set to even the match at one.

The third set was tight all the way through until Shelton had three kills late in the set to put the Owls up three and they held on to that lead to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Next weekend, the Owls will close out the regular season by making the trip to Jacksonville to take on North Florida on Friday night and Jacksonville on Saturday.

Coach Schunzel on the Big Win on Senior Night
"What a special feeling on senior night with a great crowd and an incredible roster of players. It's such a neat night for our team and our seniors. To be down zero sets to one and down in the fourth and to keep battling, I'm just so proud of our team. I really feel like our team is coming together at the right time for us. I couldn't be more excited about the upcoming road trip and conference tournament. I'm so happy for our seniors and our program right now."
