KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's late comeback fell short against the Tennessee State Tigers on Saturday, November 28 as the Owls lost 56-49.

Staring at its largest deficit of the game down 18 with 12:15 remaining, KSU responded with a 10-2 run capped by a Bernard Morena jumper to get the Owls within 10 points with 8:05 remaining.

Minutes later, as the Owls continued to cut into the lead as Yonel Brown nailed a three to get KSU within five points with 2:37 remaining. On Tennessee State's next possession, they got an offensive rebound after a missed jumper and hit a layup to go back up seven. The Owls couldn't recover after that.

After falling down by 18 with 12:15 left to play, KSU finished the game outscoring the Tigers 22-11. The Owls limited Tennessee State to only four field goals over the final 12 minutes.

The first half was close throughout, until Tennessee State held KSU to two points over the final 6:53. During the offensive drought, the Tigers grew their lead to 15 points and went into the locker room leading 32-17.

The Owls have a quick turnaround as the team travels to Elon tomorrow and will take on the Phoenix on Monday, November 30 at 7 p.m.

Coach Skinner on the Tennessee State Game
"You're not going to win any Division I basketball game by scoring 17 points in a half. Our offense was not very good, our shot selection was not very good and we struggled with it. In the second half, we showed much more patience to attack the basket and because of that we shot a higher percentage and scored more points. If we take anything away from this game, it's offensively we have to show a little more control and defensively we need to play with a lot more intensity. For us, when you miss a lot of shots, especially jump shots, it leads to transition baskets for the other team, and we're not a very good transition team right now. The second half, we did a better job because the shots we missed were closer to the basket and that allowed us to get back on d. We need to have a better balance overall defensively and offensively, and I like to hope that we'll get there."
