Early on, the Owls went shot for shot with the Bruins. After an early layup by
Kendrick Ray, KSU went up 4-3 to take their first lead of the game.
After falling down five points, Legends Classic Sub-Regional All-Tournament member
Yonel Brown nailed two threes to spark an 8-2 run and put the Owls back in front 23-22. Belmont responded though with a 10-2 run to give themselves an eight-point lead with 6:14 remaining in the opening half.
The Owls couldn't cut into the lead at all as Belmont led 41-29 at halftime.
Out of the locker room, KSU scored a quick four points on a couple of
Nick Masterson jumpers. After that, Belmont got hot as they pushed their lead to 20, four minutes later.
The Owls used a timeout to regroup and cut it down to 15 points at one point in the second half, but couldn't get closer than that.
Kennesaw State's next game is back in the KSU Convocation Center against Tennessee State on Saturday, November 28 at 7 p.m.
Coach Skinner on the Loss to Belmont"I'm happy for YB after the performances he's had. He's played a lot of minutes over these last six games. I'm really happy for the way he hung in there, and he did a good job, so I'm happy for the recognition that he received. Overall, team effort was there and we just have to put the ball in the basket. I think a lot of times because of our misses they got in transition. It created great offense for them. They do a great job of not only scoring the ball, but also pushing it up the floor, and we didn't do a good enough job with our transition defense. I thought our half court defense, a lot of times, was really pretty good, but it was the missed shots and transition that really made it difficult for us."
