KENNSAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State lacrosse team welcomes nine players after they signed their NCAA National Letter of Intent with the Owls.
"The 2016 class is one our staff is extremely excited about," head coach
Kristina Llanes said. "This group is filled with exceptional people who we feel will have an immediate positive impact on Kennesaw State University. They will excel in the classroom and continue to push our program in the right direction. We are grateful for their active role in the recruiting process and it has been pleasure getting to know them and their families. We welcome them to KSU!"
Izzy Bertolani is a midfielder from Johns Creek, Georgia that attends Johns Creek HS. She plays with the LB3 Club from 2012-15.
Coach Llanes on Bertolani"Izzy B. brings good size and quickness to the draw circle and is an excellent communicator on defense. She has the potential to be a strong contributor on both ends of the field." Heidi Curtis, a 5'7" defender, from Eldersburg, Maryland. Her high school team won the Maryland State Championship in 2015 and she has made the academic honor roll every year in high school so far.
Coach Llanes on Curtis"Heidi is a very talented defender who comes from an extremely competitive high school program. She makes smart decisions in transition and will add to the depth on defense." Katie DeFine is a 5'1" attacker from Acworth, Georgia. The Harrison High School product has won a region championship all three years of high school so far. She has been named to the all-county team and has scored 130 goals with 57 assists through her first three years as a varsity lacrosse player.
Coach Llanes on DeFine"Katie is a fast dynamic attacker who will look to push the pace on the offense. This will be a valuable addition with the shot clock coming into play next season." Emma Dougherty attends Newnan High School. The 5'11" signee can play defense or in the midfield. She was named to the Region I AAAAAA Second Team as a midfielder and attacker.
Coach Llanes on DoughertyEmma will also bring another component to the draw. She is a strong finisher and makes smart decisions with the ball under pressure. Grace Lascara is from Goodletsville, Tennessee and attends Pope John Paul II. She's a 5'5" midfielder has been named to the All-State and All-Region team her first three years of high school.
Coach Llanes on LascaraGrace is a true middie who works tirelessly to maintain possession. She has the ability to impact our midfield game tremendously. Emily Napierala attends Collins Hill HS and is from Lawrenceville, Georgia. She had made the All-County Second Team two years in a row as well as being named to the Gwinnett Daily Post All-County Team he sophomore and junior seasons.
Coach Llanes on NapieralaEmily's lacrosse IQ is strong and she is has a calm demenour about her on the field. We will look for her to contribute immediately on attack. Maura Palandro is from York, Pennsylvania and attends York Catholic High School. The 5'3" defender was named a US Lacrosse Academic All-American after her junior season.
Coach Llanes on PalandroMaura is defensive specialist who is a great athletic fit for our program. She understands the game well and will bring another dimension to our transition game. Izzy Palermo is a local product that attends Kell High School. The midfielder was named to the Georgia All-State Team as well as the All-County team after her 10
th and 11
th grade seasons.
Coach Llanes on PalermoIzzy P. is a strong student athlete with the potential to immediately contribute to our program. She's proven herself to be a dynamic and mature player. Jaclyn Regnery is also a local product from Etowah High School in Woodstock, Georgia. She was named the Team MVP after her junior season. Regnery was named the 2014 Volunteer of the Year by the Cherokee Recreation and Parks agency for spending time volunteering for CYLA leading to more opportunities for the citizens of Cherokee County.
