NEWARK, DE - Kennesaw State women's lacrosse dropped a road contest to Delaware, 16-3, on Thursday afternoon despite a pair of goals from Caleigh Shore and continued effort across all four quarters.

KEY PLAYERS: Caleigh Shore led the Owls with two goals, while Lexi Tinker added a free-position score in the fourth quarter. Lauren Dobbs led the way defensively with three ground balls and four caused turnovers.

THE RUNDOWN:

Kennesaw State faced an early deficit and was unable to recover as Delaware steadily built momentum throughout the game. The Owls showed resilience, particularly in the second half, but the Hens' consistent scoring proved to be the difference.

Not much action defined the opening period as both teams settled in defensively. Delaware capitalized on limited opportunities, outscoring the Owls 3-0 by the end of the quarter.

Delaware extended its lead with three more goals before Caleigh Shore put Kennesaw State on the board to make it 6-1. After another Hens goal, Shore struck again, cutting the deficit to 7-2. Delaware responded once more to close the half with an 8-2 advantage.

The Hens continued to control the pace in the third, holding the Owls scoreless while adding to their lead. The quarter ended with Delaware ahead of 13-2.

Lexi Tinker found the net on a free-position attempt in the final period, but Delaware maintained control to secure the 16-3 result.

NOTES:

  • Dobbs broke the school record of 28 caused turnovers in a single season with her first one of the game, now sitting at 32 for the year.

NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls return to action Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. against Liberty in Lynchburg, Virginia.
