KENNESAW, Ga. – Assistant head coach
Miranda Foley announced the signing of three individuals who have signed National Letters-of-Intent to join the Kennesaw State women's tennis program next fall.
Foley has signed Eleanor Baker (Ringwood, England / Talbot Heath School), Aspen Jarrett (Louisville, Ky. / Oldham County HS) and Caroline Wakefield (Alpharetta, Ga. / Lambert HS).
"As a whole, the three girls will bring hard work and discipline to our program," Foley said. "They will continue to help us mold a team of young women who represent KSU with pride and honor in all that they do."
The following is a capsule on each signee:
Eleanor Baker (Ringwood, England / Talbot Heath School)* Helped Talbot Heath School to back-to-back AEGON National Finals in England
* Represented England (as part of Talbot Heath's team) in Doha, March 2015, where the team finished 4th in the world.
* Competed in multiple local, regional and national tour events throughout juniors
* Represented her county of Dorset at both junior and senior level competition
Foley on Baker"Elle comes from a tennis background where she has already been exposed to playing on a team at an international school level. Her experience alone in this is invaluable. Elle becoming an Owl is only the beginning of better things to come, both on and off the court."
Aspen Jarrett (Louisville, Ky. / Oldham County High School* A four-year letter winner at Oldham County High School in Louisville, Ky.
* Captured the Kentucky High School Region 8 title in 2014 and 2015 and was runner-up in 2013.
* Honored with the Sportsmanship Award at the 2014
* Advanced to the second round of the Kentucky state tournament in 2014
* Helped the Lady Dragons capture the Region 8 title as a junior
* Named USTA Kentucky Most Improved Girl in 2015
Foley on Jarrett"Aspen will bring a great energy to this team. She has continually improved her tennis game throughout her junior career and we are eager to get her here on campus to continue that process. She is hungry for everything that Kennesaw State and college tennis has to offer."
Caroline Wakefield (Alpharetta, Ga. / Lambert High School)* A three-year team captain at Lambert High School
* A two-time team Most Valuable Player
* Placed fourth at the Georgia State Qualifier
* Finished third at the Georgia State Open
Foley on Wakefield"Caroline has a great work ethic and attitude towards everything she does in life. The environment here at Kennesaw State will continue to push her to be the best tennis player and person that she can be. We are excited for what the future holds for Caroline as an Owl." Kennesaw State opens its 2016 spring dual match season on Jan. 17 when it travels to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to take on Middle Tennessee.
