KENNESAW, Ga. – Only darkness could stop the Kennesaw State men's golf team from a potential tournament record during round two of the Pinetree Intercollegiate that is being contested at the par-72, 7,108-yard Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw.

Behind the red-hot play of junior Teremoana Beaucousin, the Owls were 13-under par under through 16 holes of their second round and three shots behind Memphis, which leads the 12-team field at 6-under par. Kennesaw State opened with a 10-over par 298 and trailed the Tigers by 12 shots after 18 holes.

After opening with a 7-over par 79, Beaucousin strung together four straight birdies to conclude his opening nine holes before posting a birdie on No. 11 and carding an eagle on the par-5 505-yard 16th before play was called due to darkness.

Beaucousin is one three Kennesaw State players under par on their second round as defending tournament champion Fredrik Nilehn is currently 3-under par through 17 holes and freshman Jake Fendt is 3-under through 16.

Nilehn is currently third at 3-under par, while Beaucousin is tied for fourth at even-par. Junior Christopher Guglielmo (+2) is tied for eighth, while Fendt (+3) is tied for 11th and Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres (+5) is tied for 19th.

Kennesaw State also has four players competing as individuals. Freshman Zach Zediker (151, +7) is tied for 31st, sophomore Buster Bruton (154 (+10) is tied for 40th, senior Carlos Segura Oliva (158, +14) is tied for 53rd, and sophomore Paul Doig (167, +23) is 65th.

"We got off to a slow start and made some mistakes that we knew better than to make, but got into a rhythm and were able to keep it going and that's what we've been waiting for," head coach Bryant Odom said. "There is no place better than to do it here (on our home course) and we are looking to carry that momentum into Tuesday's final round."

Kennesaw State will attempt to set the single-round tournament record of 14-under 202 set a year ago when it completes round two on Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. (ET). The tournament will also conclude with third-round action as the Owls seek to win the event for the fourth year in a row. All the action can be followed live at www.golfstatresults.com.
