KENNESAW, Ga. – Showing the most balance it has demonstrated in any game this season, Kennesaw State rolled up 699 yards of total offense during a 56-17 victory over NAIA opponent Point before a crowd of 8,680 fans at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Saturday (Oct. 10).
 
The Owls (4-1) entertained the home crowd with big plays and sustained drives as they passed for a season-high 308 yards and rushed for 391 while holding a nearly 13-minute time of possession advantage.
 
Junior running back Chaston Bennett electrified the partisans with 160 all-purpose yards (70 rushing, 90 receiving) while scoring a KSU single-game season high three touchdowns. Bennett scored on runs of 13 and 14 yards, and had a 69-yard touchdown reception.
 
Quarterback Trey White also had his best passing day as an Owl connecting on 9 of 14 passes for 239 yards and three first-half touchdowns. White had scoring tosses of 43 (Darnell Holland), 69 (Bennett) and 19 (Justin Sumpter).
 
Running back Jae Bowen scored on a 49-yard run, his longest of the season, late in the second half, while Jake McKenzie relieved White in the third quarter and had a 13-yard TD run, and running back Che Darious Robinson scored on a 3-yard run for his first career touchdown.

Next Game: The Owls return to Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Oct. 17 when they host Gardner-Webb in their Big South Conference opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Notes
* A significant number of players and sideline personnel wore pink socks and hats with pink bills in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They were purchased for $10 each and in two days, the football program raised $1,200.
* Kennesaw State reached the 50-point mark for the third time in five games this season, and scored 50 or more points for the second time in three home contests.
* The Owls' 699 yards of total offense on Saturday ranks as one of the Top 10 offensive outputs by an FCS this season.
* KSU totaled 32 first downs, including 20 by rush.
* The Owls had six plays of 25 or more yards.
* QB Trey White's 43-yard connection with RB Darnell Holland early in the first quarter marked the fifth straight game that the Owls have scored on their opening possession. KSU has scored four touchdowns and one field goal on its first drive.
* RB Chaston Bennett had a career-long 69-yard reception for a touchdown early in the second quarter.
* QB Trey White threw for a season-high 239 yards and 3 TDs. He reached those plateaus in the first half.
*RB Jae Bowen's 34-yard touchdown run was a season-long rush.
* Point QB Charles Fortis and WR Connor Reed connected on an 86-yard pass play, marking the longest gain from scrimmage against Kennesaw State this season.
* The Owls outgained Point 429-180 in total yards in the first half. The 429 yards gained are the most in a half by KSU this season.
