LAST OUTING:Another knock-out pitching performance coupled with strong at-bats helped bring the Kennesaw State baseball team a 12-3 win over USC Upstate on Friday afternoon, bringing the Owls their second consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference series win.
NEXT UP:The Owls host East Tennessee State in a crucial A-Sun series this weekend, starting off on Friday, April 25 at 6 p.m. ET at Stillwell Stadium.
NEWS AND NOTES:Winning WaysThe Owls are looking to keep the momentum rolling, having won seven straight contest, the team's longest winning streak of the season.
In the NationThe Owls are back in the top 10 in the nation in total hits with 423. KSU also ranks in the top 50 in total runs this season with 242.
Double-Digit HitsAs a team the Owls have now played seven straight games belting 10 or more hits, aiding the seven game win streak. KSU now has 24 games with double-digit hits.
Pentecost Playing WellMax Pentecost continues his stellar performance at the plate, now coming in at No. 2 in the nation with 67 hits this season. The catcher also holds the longest active hit streak in the A-Sun and one of the longest in the NCAA at 22 games and counting.
Simmons at the PlateKal Simmons has reached base in 36 of the team's 41 games, also ranks in the top 40 in hits in the country with 52 and has 15 games with multiple hits.
McCalvin in ReliefJustin McCalvin has risen as one of the top relief pitchers in the land, posting a 1.32 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched. The righty is now second in the nation in WHIP with a 0.72 mark. McCalvin put together a stellar weekend, picking up three saves in as many attempts while only allowing one hit through 3.1 innings. McCalvin now holds a team-best seven saves on the year.
Bergen's Strong StartStarting pitcher
Travis Bergen continues to rank in the top five in the A-Sun in strikeouts with his 57 through the first month of the 2014 season.
Bennett Filling the RoleColin Bennett, who has seen action in the last nine games for the Owls, has now reached base in all nine games he has played in.
