THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women's basketball team will be embarking on a six-game road swing following its season and home opener on Friday night, first traveling to Nashville, Tenn., for a 7 p.m. ET contest against Tennessee State on Monday, Nov. 17 in the Gentry Center.

THE OPPONENT:
Tennessee State
After a 109-57 win over Tennessee Temple in their first and only exhibition contest, the Tigers opened the season with an 84-55 loss at North Carolina State on Friday. Brianna Lawrence led the Tigers with 14 points, while Chelsea Hudson added nine points and Imani Davis pulled down six rebounds in the setback. Against NC State, TSU committed 21 turnovers and only shot 32.8 % from the field and 23.5 % from three-point range. Last season TSU finished fourth in the OVC East Division with a league mark of 9-7 (12-18 overall). Under the guidance of third year head coach Larry Inman, the Tigers returned 10 letterwinners from last year's team including preseason All-OVC selection Hudson. Hudson led TSU with 15.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game last season while posting nine double-doubles throughout the course of the year.  
 
THE SERIES:
This will be the second all-time meeting between the Owls and the Tigers, with KSU holding a 1-0 advantage in the series. The Owls and the Tigers met for the first time in program history last season, with senior Kristina Wells making a pair of free throws with 0.5 seconds left in regulation to lift KSU to a 70-68 win over TSU for the first win of the 2013-14 campaign on Nov. 11, 2013. Sophomore Aareon Smith totaled her first double-digit output with 11 points and six rebounds for the Owls, while Wells added nine points and five rebounds in the victory.

LAST TIME OUT:
For the first time since the 2007-08 season, the Kennesaw State women's basketball team won its season opening game as the Owls started off the 2014-15 campaign with a 68-61 victory over the College of Charleston, the first-ever against the Cougars, on Friday night (Nov. 14) at the KSU Convocation Center. The Owls had four players contribute double figure point totals, led by redshirt-senior Breonna Mosely, who made her KSU debut with a game-high 19 points, including a 6-of-11 effort from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 mark from the free throw line.
 
NEXT UP:
The Owls continue its six-game road trip with a midweek contest against crosstown rival Georgia Tech on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m., in the McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
A-Sun Preseason Polls
In the A-Sun's annual preseason women's basketball coaches and media polls, KSU was voted seventh in both polls. FGCU earned the top position in both polls, followed by Stetson and Northern Kentucky in the second and third positions.
 
Season Openers
For the first time since the 2007-08 season, the Owls won its season opening game with the program's first win over the College of Charleston on Friday night. KSU had last won a season opening contest on Nov. 9, 2007 in a 74-70 overtime win over Jacksonville State.
 
Home Openers
The Owls have now won three-consecutive home openers after earning the 68-61 win over the Cougars on Friday, as KSU also notched wins over Tennessee State last season and against Troy in the 2012-13 home opener at the KSU Convocation Center.
 
Mosely Debut
After not playing in a collegiate game for almost two years, redshirt-senior Breonna Mosely came back better than ever with 19 points in her KSU debut on Friday night, including a 6-of-11 effort from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 mark from the free throw line.
 
Owls in Double-Figures
The Owls had four players contribute double figure point totals against the College of Charleston on Friday, led by Mosely's 19 points. Senior Kristina Wells added 14 points, sophomore Deandrea Sawyers had 12 points and junior Jasmine McAllister registered 11 points. The last time KSU had four players in double figures was in the Owls' 88-79 win at Lipscomb a season ago on Feb. 6, 2014.
 
Wells Named A-Sun Preseason All-Conference
Wells earned a spot on the 2014-15 Preseason Atlantic Sun All-Conference Team after having a breakout season in 2013-14.
 
1,000-Point Scorer
Wells was the leading scorer for the Owls with 459 points and became Kennesaw State's third 1,000 career point scorer in the Division I era last season. She ranked in top four in the A-Sun in scoring and rebounding with 15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, while also averaging 3.3 assists and 1.6 assists as a junior.
 
Wells Doing it All
Playing the third-most minutes in the conference and ranking in the top 15 in almost every statistical category, Wells registered the first-ever triple-double in KSU Division I history with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists at Lipscomb on Jan. 9, 2014. 
 
Sawyers as a Rookie
Sawyers, who was named to the A-Sun All-Freshman Team, was one of only three freshmen in the A-Sun to rank in the top-13 in scoring in both overall and conference play, ranking 13th with a 12.6 points per game average in overall action and finishing ninth in A-Sun play with a 13.3 points per game average.
 
Sawyers Behind the Arc
Sawyers made the second-most three-pointers in the A-Sun with 64 and averaged 2.1 treys per game, which ranked second in the A-Sun. Her 64 threes ranked third in program history for three-point field goals made in a season.
 
Young from Deep
Senior Bria Young drained 55 threes last season, which ranked seventh in the A-Sun, while in league action she made the third-most threes with 42.
 
Juco Transfers
The Owls' junior college transfers from Walters State Community College – junior Karly Frye and McAllister - combined to lead WSCC to a 32-1 overall record and an 18-0 mark in conference play in 2013-14, with the Senators reaching as high as No. 2 in the Division I National Junior College Top 25.
