KENNESAW, Ga. – Coming of the recently-concluded Atlantic Sun Cross Country Championships, the Kennesaw State cross country teams will travel south to compete in the NCAA South Regional Championships on Friday (Nov. 14) at the Appalachee Regional Park Course in Tallahassee, Fla.
The south region consists of schools from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Louisiana. The women's 6K run is scheduled for 9 a.m. (ET) and the men's championship 10K race is slated for 10 a.m. (ET).
A total of 51 teams will compete in the South Regional and the top two teams, along with the top two teams from eight other regional sites, automatically advance to the NCAA Championships in Terra Haute, Ind. on Nov. 22. An additional 13 at-large teams move onto the championships and 38 individuals per gender will be selected from non-advancing teams. The entire field will be announced on Sunday, Nov. 16.
The Kennesaw State men's team is coming off a third-place showing at the A-Sun Conference Championships, while the women's placed fourth.
A-Sun Conference Freshman of the Year
Daniel Garcia leads the Owls after finishing second at the conference championships. He has been KSU's top finisher in all five meets this year, posting one win and three second place finishes.
Dylan Titon, who placed 18th at the A-Sun Conference Championships, has produced three top-40 finishes and was named to the A-Sun Conference's All-Freshman team. Redshirt junior
