THE OPPONENT:College of CharlestonThe Cougars return eight letter-winners from last year's 18-15 team that finished third overall in the Colonial Athletic Association, but return just 43 percent of points scored and just 35 percent of games started with the graduation of Alyssa Frye and Afreyea Tolbert, who combined averaged 28.6 points per game as well as the program's career assists and minutes played leader in Jill Brown. Only five letter-winners return for The College who averaged more than 10 minutes per game last season, Mikaela Hopkins (19.5), Bre Bolden (23.3), Christy Hewatt (16.8), Jazz Green (13.7) and Erin Hall (11.9).

LAST TIME OUT:The Kennesaw State women's basketball team started the season off on the right foot on Saturday afternoon, dropping 100 on Emory in exhibition action at the Convocation Center as the Owls put up a 108-56 win over their cross-town foe.
Breonna Mosely led the offensive onslaught for KSU, sinking a game-high 18 points to go with her 11 rebounds and was one of six Owl players to reach the double-digit point plateau.
NEXT UP:Following their season and home opener on Friday, the Owls will open a six-game road swing with a trip to Nashville, Tenn., for a 7 p.m. ET game against Tennessee State on Monday, Nov. 17.
NEWS AND NOTES:A-Sun Preseason PollsIn the A-Sun's annual preseason women's basketball coaches and media polls, KSU was voted seventh in both polls. FGCU earned the top position in both polls, followed by Stetson and Northern Kentucky in the second and third positions.

Three-PointersKSU averaged 5.8 three-pointers per game a season ago and made six treys or more on 13 occasions, including tying the program record with 12 at Lipscomb on Jan. 9, 2014.
Wells Named A-Sun Preseason All-ConferenceWells earned a spot on the 2014-15 Preseason Atlantic Sun All-Conference Team after having a breakout season in 2013-14.
1,000-Point ScorerWells was the leading scorer for the Owls with 459 points and became Kennesaw State's third 1,000 career point scorer in the Division I era last season. She ranked in top four in the A-Sun in scoring and rebounding with 15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, while also averaging 3.3 assists and 1.6 assists as a junior.
Wells Doing it AllPlaying the third-most minutes in the conference and ranking in the top 15 in almost every statistical category, Wells registered the first-ever triple-double in KSU Division I history with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists at Lipscomb on Jan. 9, 2014.
Sawyers as a RookieSawyers, who was named to the A-Sun All-Freshman Team, was one of only three freshmen in the A-Sun to rank in the top-13 in scoring in both overall and conference play, ranking 13th with a 12.6 points per game average in overall action and finishing ninth in A-Sun play with a 13.3 points per game average.
Sawyers Behind the ArcSawyers made the second-most three-pointers in the A-Sun with 64 and averaged 2.1 treys per game, which ranked second in the A-Sun. Her 64 threes ranked third in program history for three-point field goals made in a season.
Young from DeepYoung drained 55 threes last season, which ranked seventh in the A-Sun, while in league action she made the third-most threes with 42.
Juco TransfersThe Owls' junior college transfers from Walters State Community College - Frye and McAllister - combined to lead WSCC to a 32-1 overall record and an 18-0 mark in conference play in 2013-14, with the Senators reaching as high as No. 2 in the Division I National Junior College Top 25.
