NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Seventeenth-ranked Kennesaw State carded a final-round even-par total of 280 to finish at 15-over par 575 and place third at the 14-team MacDonald Cup that concluded Sunday (Oct. 5) at the par-70, 6,789-yard The Course at Yale in New Haven, Conn.
The event was shortened to 36 holes after Saturday's first round was suspended due to weather.
Host Yale captured the tournament after posting a 9-over par 569 to finish one-shot ahead of Harvard, which finished second with a 10-over par 570.
"This is a pretty disappointing result for us and most of our guys are not pleased with their performance," Kennesaw State head coach #Jay Moseley said. "We learned a lot this week and I was encouraged by the way we finished off today (Sunday) playing the last four holes 9-under par to salvage the round."
Kennesaw State turned in the low score of the second round after opening with a 15-over par 295.
"Our team has some highly competitive people on it and we expect more of ourselves than the way we played this week," Moseley said. "We will remain focused on our goals and finishing off the fall in good fashion at home in two weeks."
Freshman
Fredrik Nilehn recorded his second straight top 10 showing after finishing 10th with a 2-over par total of 142 following rounds of 73 and 69. The first-year Owl finished four shots behind Princeton's Eric Mitchell who claimed individual medalist honors with a 2-under par 138.
Wyatt Larkin turned in a career-best showing as he shot rounds of 71-72 to finish at 3-over par 143 to tie for 11
th, one shot better than sophomore teammate
Teremoana Beaucousin who tied for 13
th at 4-over par 144.
Senior
Austin Vick and sophomore
Chris Guglielmo tied for 24th, with 8-over par totals of 148.
Kennesaw State concludes its fall season in two weeks when it hosts the Pinetree Intercollegiate at Pinetree Country Club October 21-22.
