KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State volleyball team (8-9, 2-1) lost to the Lipsomb Bisons (25-22, 25-17, 26-24) in three sets on Saturday, October 4.
Â
"You don't ever want to be encouraged by a loss, but we just talked about it in the locker room that two of those sets and really two and a half sets until the end of set two was point for point, and we were doing good things and playing well," head coach
Keith Schunzel said. "That's a good team. They have a lot of older players that have been through it. It's a good team that our guys can learn from and realize that the difference between the two of us is not that great."
Â
Anaiah Boyer led the team with 15 digs and eight kills while hitting .227.
Katarina Morton returned as the libero and finished with 14 digs.
Â
Kristi Piedimonte had 24 assists in the match.
Â
The first two sets were similar as both teams kept it close until midway through the set, and Lipscomb used runs to take the lead and close out the sets.
Â
In the third set, the Owls grabbed the lead right away and built it up to as many as five points at 11-6, but the Bisons came back to tie the score at 20. KSU spoiled two match points to send the set into overtime, but Lipscomb closed out the match 26-24.
Â
Next weekend, the Owls will once again be in the friendly confines of the Convocation Center to face Stetson on Friday, October 10 at 7 p.m. and Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, October 11 for homecoming weekend.
