KENNESAW, Ga. –
The Kennesaw State volleyball team (8-10, 2-2) lost its Friday night match against the Stetson Hatters in four sets (24-26, 25-22, 15-25, 26-28).

"I'm disappointed obviously," head coach Keith Schunzel said. "I didn't get a great vibe from our team today. From serve-pass to pre-game meal, I was a little worried. We were on the roller coaster ride pretty good tonight. At times we played pretty well and at times we were bad. That's disappointing, because I think we have the players on this team that enjoy the pressure and enjoy the competition and the crowd. It was an unbelievable crowd tonight with some students out, and I'm just a little disappointed we didn't respond better to that."

Anaiah Boyer hit .286 and had 14 kills and seven digs in the match.

Kristi Piedimonte had 35 assists, six digs and five kills.

Katarina Morton led the team with 13 digs.

In the first set, the Owls held the lead late, but couldn't close out the set as the Hatters went on a 5-1 run to clinch the opening set in overtime.

KSU responded in the second set equaling Stetson point for point until it was 22 all. After going ahead by one after a Kelly Marcinek kill, Morton hustled for a dig that Piedimonte ended up placing perfectly for a kill to give the Owls a set point. After another intense point, Cierra Royster brought the crowd to their feet with a kill to even the match up at one set apiece.

Coming out of the locker room, Stetson grabbed the momentum immediately and went on to win the third set to go up two sets to one.

The Owls held a lead late in the fourth set once again, but the Hatters came back and took a 24-22 lead with two match points. KSU responded with a mini run of their own to tie the score at 24. After holding off another match point, Boyer got one of her kills to give the Owls a set point, but Stetson won three straight points to win the match.

The team will be back on the court on Saturday, October 11 to take on Florida Gulf Coast, who is 4-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference play, at 5 p.m.
