KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team will look to ‘white out’ Georgia State on Tuesday, April 2 as the Owls and the Panthers face off at 5 p.m. (ET) for a single game at Bailey Park. Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game on Tuesday in support of Kennesaw State.

Tuesday’s game will feature Kennesaw State football Head Coach
Brian Bohannon throwing out the first pitch and signing autographs for fans. Fans in attendance will also receive free gold drawstring bags courtesy of Shane Co.
Following the conclusion of the game, the Owls softball team will be hosting an autograph session on the field for all youth in attendance.
Kennesaw State (23-10, 7-5 A-Sun) is coming off of a tough weekend after being swept at home by USC Upstate on Friday and Saturday. The Owls opened the three-game series with a 10-0 loss in five innings, before dropping only its fifth one-run game of the season in game two, 4-3. Upstate then took the final game of the series 7-5 despite the Owls battling back after an early 6-0 deficit in the first inning.
Freshman
Kara Chambers (Kennesaw, Ga./Allatoona HS) led the KSU attack against the Spartans with a batting average of .667 and posted four hits, including a double, two runs and an RBI. Sophomore
Natalie Rhodes (Canton, Ga./Cherokee HS) chipped in three RBI and two hits, including a triple, in the series.
Offensively, senior
Sharon Swanson (Canton, Ga./Cherokee HS) leads the team with a .380 batting average, and has 38 hits, 23 RBI and seven home runs on the season. Junior
Sara Sikes (Douglasville, Ga./Georgia) has also chipped in 38 hits, including a team-high 11 doubles and two triples, and owns a .355 batting average for the Owls. Sikes ranks second on the team with 15 RBI and has three stolen bases in four attempts this season.
Junior
Amanda Henderson (Covington, Ga./Eastside HS) has been an mainstay in the circle for KSU with a conference-leading 1.03 ERA in 108.2 innings of work. Henderson is 13-1 this season and also ranks first in the A-Sun with 134 strikeouts.
Georgia State (21-11, 4-2 CAA) is coming off of a 1-2 weekend against Hofstra in Hempstead, N.Y. The Panthers opened the three-game series with a 3-2 win, but then dropped the next two, 7-1 and 2-1 to move to 21-11 and 4-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. This is the first time GSU has had consecutive losses since February 23 and has still won six of their last eight competitions.
Callie Alford leads the Panther attack with a .360 batting average. Alford has registered a team-leading 36 hits, 25 RBI and 20 runs. She has also hit six doubles and seven home runs on the season. Paige Nowacki ranks first on the team with 27 RBI and has tallied 12 home runs in 2013. Kaitlyn Medlam has a team-best 2.51 ERA in the circle for GSU in 108.2 innings and owns a 10-4 record this season. She has posted 69 strikeouts and has 39 earned runs to her name.
Kennesaw State next travels to Jacksonville, Fla., for a three-game series against North Florida on Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7. The Owls and the Ospreys will play a doubleheader on Saturday, followed by a single game on Sunday. First pitch for both days is set for 1 p.m. (ET).
