KENNESAW, Ga. - After dropping back-to-back games for the first time this season, the Kennesaw State softball team looks to get back on track as the Owls host USC Upstate in a three-game series on Friday and Saturday, March 29-30. KSU and the Spartans will play a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 3 p.m. (ET), followed by a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m.

During Friday’s games, fans are encouraged to participate in softball bingo, while popcorn and Cokes will also be available for fans to purchase for only $1. In celebration of Easter Weekend, an Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday prior to the start of the game.
The Owls (23-7, 7-2 Atlantic Sun Conference) fell to Georgia State on Tuesday as Paige Nowacki hit home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning. KSU then dropped a 17-3 decision to Georgia Tech on Wednesday.
Freshman
Hannah Weldy (Cumming, Ga./Milton HS) made her first career appearance for Kennesaw State, entering in the fourth inning of the Georgia Tech game and earned the first strikeout of her career in 1.1 innings of work.
Junior
Amanda Henderson (Covington, Ga./Eastside HS) continues to lead the Owls in the circle. She owns a 1.03 ERA in 101.2 innings of work and is 13-1 on the season. Henderson leads the conference with 128 strikeouts. Prior to KSU’s midweek games, Henderson ranked ninth in the nation in ERA (1.08) and saves (three), while also ranking in the top 35 in several categories, including shutouts (13th), victories (24th), hits allowed per seven innings (26th) and strikeouts per seven innings (32nd).
Offensively, senior
Sharon Swanson (Canton, Ga./Cherokee HS) leads the team with a .396 batting average and has registered 36 hits, 22 RBI and six home runs. Junior
Sara Sikes (Douglasville, Ga./Georgia) has also chipped in 36 hits, including a team-high 10 doubles and is hitting at a .371 clip for the Owls.
USC Upstate (25-3, 7-1 A-Sun) enters the A-Sun series on a seven-game winning streak in conference action. The Spartans posted a pair of wins over Western Carolina in a nonconference doubleheader on Wednesday.
The Spartans have earned votes in the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 polls, garnering four votes in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll and receiving three votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 poll. USC Upstate also came in at No. 51 when the NCAA released its first RPI of the season.
Maddison Kieffer leads the team with a .446 batting average and has 33 runs, 28 RBI and 21 hits, including eight doubles on the season. Jamie Ujvari has been one of the top pitchers in the conference and is 11-0 for the Spartans in 2013. She owns an ERA of 1.47 in 71.2 innings and has 91 strikeouts.
Kennesaw State will look to exact some revenge on Tuesday, April 2 as KSU plays host to Georgia State for a single game starting at 5 p.m.
