Kennesaw, Ga. – The Kennesaw State volleyball team won in a competitive four-set match 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 25-17) against the Northern Kentucky Norse at the Convocation Center on Saturday, November 2.

"Tonight's win was a very methodical win and nice collective effort from a lot of our players," Head Coach
Keith Schunzel said. "For the majority of the night, we played very consistently in a lot of aspects of the game. We had a lull in game three, but I was really proud of how we bounced back in game four. We got out to a big lead and extended it at the end to finish the match."
The Owls were led by freshman
Kelly Marcinek as she had her ninth straight game with double digit kills after finishing with with 22 and 14 digs on the afternoon. KSU is now 11-14 overall and 6-9 in the A-Sun.

In the clinching fourth set, KSU jumped out to a 10-2 lead behind four kills from Marcinek. The Norse came back to tie the game at 15 before the Owls closed out the match on another 10-2 run behind senior
Camille Pedraza serving.

The opening set of the match was tied at 21 before the Owls went on a three point run with Marcinek serving before closing the set out on an NKU attack error.

In the second set, the Owls jumped out to a 7-2 lead after an
Emily Bean kill from
Sara Metroka. KSU closed out the set after another NKU attack error behind seven kills from Marcinek.

The third set belonged to the Norse as they jumped on the Owls in the beginning and ended up taking the set 25-19.

Metroka collected 52 assists while
Keyaira Stevenson finished the game with 15 kills. Pedraza led the team with 20 digs.

Next weekend the Owls will travel to Jacksonville, Florida to take on North Florida on Friday, November 8 at 7 P.M. and Jacksonville on Saturday, November 9 at 3 P.M.
"We're at a critical part in the season, and we know we have a huge road trip coming up," Schunzel said. "Next week, we'll get back in the gym and train hard like we have been all year and we will be ready to battle when we arrive in Florida."
