KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State Baseball team is one win away from punching their ticket to the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament after a 3-2 win on Tuesday night over East Tennessee State.

The Owls (30-22, 14-10) received another tremendous performance from their Ace, Josh Carr, as the senior tossed seven innings, allowing only one run while matching his season high eight strikeouts.

KSU jumped on top in the second inning as Andy Chriscaden led off the frame with his 13th homerun of the season with an opposite field shot to give the Owls the 1-0 advantage. The senior from Monroe, Washington continues to make a push for All American candidacies as he holds a .343 batting average and 51 RBI.

ETSU (22-31, 7-18) would even the score in the fifth inning on an Andrew Green single to right field that plated Alex Reynolds.

The Black and Gold added two more runs in the sixth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Ronnie Freeman and Will Howard to extend their lead to 3-1. The Owls would cruise into the eighth inning unharmed, but it took a 6-4-3 double play, induced by reliever Zak Griffith to get the team out of the inning unscathed.

The Bucs would make things interesting in the ninth inning when Reynolds delivered a two out double down the right field line. He would score on the next hit as Betterson singled to left field to make it a 3-2 game. In need of a final out, Griffith settled in to strike out Mason Hershey and secured the 3-2 victory.

Game two of the series is set for Friday, with first pitched scheduled for 6 p.m. E.T. Junior Kevin Kyle will be on the mound for the Owls. All fans will receive half off admission to the game as tickets will be just $3.
