KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team will host East Tennessee State on Friday morning for its final regular season home match of the 2011 season. Friday will also represent senior day for seniors
Agatha Palider and
Ayano Tanaka.
With only two conference matches left before the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, playoff seeding is now a priority for the Owls as their two wins last weekend has put them in an excellent position to grab a top seed.
The Black and Gold pulled out a thrilling 4-3 win over Campbell on Friday thanks in large part to Palider’s heroics in her three-set win at the No. 4 singles spot. On Sunday, the Black and Gold won a weather shortened match over USC Upstate, 4-1. The two wins have the Owls sitting in a tie for third place in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings with Stetson, and they are a game behind ETSU for the No. 1 seed.
Junior
Morgan Carney will look to steal the show on senior day as she continues her quest to finish the conference season undefeated in singles play. The Mobile, Ala. native currently has a 6-0 record in the A-Sun, and she is riding a seven-match singles winning streak.
As for the two seniors Friday will be the last time in their careers that they play in front of a home crowd. Palider has appeared in over 140 matches in her career, and she has totaled 77 overall wins in her time as an Owl. Tanaka, who is a team captain this season, has appeared in 108 matches in her career, and she has amassed over 40 career wins.
Kennesaw State is scheduled to play East Tennessee State at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Laurel Park Tennis Center.
