Kennesaw State Director of Athletics
Milton Overton announced the addition of
Greg Gilbert as Senior Director of Development for Athletics in June 2022.
Gilbert has been a leader in the healthcare, higher education, and banking industries. He has secured negotiated revenue streams surpassing $20 million with over 70-funded higher education major gifts, medical product sales resulting in over $30 million in revenue, and multiple eight-figure infrastructure bond closures within the municipal banking sector. While at the University of Southern California, Greg facilitated multiple million-dollar gifts supporting all academic units consisting of research and development, business, athletics, and university initiatives.
"The leadership at KSU made it an easy choice to work at this place. I've always wanted to be somewhere I felt a true sense of comradery and hunger for success," said Gilbert. "KSU has both and I can't wait to get up to speed and add my talents to this already supremely talented team of men and women. Go Owls!"
Gilbert was at USC from 2013 through 2021 as a Senior Director for Advancement. He had a national philanthropic scope in cultivating and stewarding major gift prospects throughout the complete donor cycle. Gilbert focused on an exclusive capacity donor pool ranging up to $10,000,000 and interacted with every academic discipline and Athletics.
Prior to USC, he worked as an Associate Athletic Director at UCF for one year where he was responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and planned gifts valued at $25,000 and above.
He began his business career as a Public Finance Director for BBVS Bank from 1996 through 2000, and then spent over a decade in healthcare development.
"
Greg Gilbert brings to the table both a wealth of fundraising experience in intercollegiate athletics and a dynamic approach which will take our beloved KSU Owls to a whole new level of excitement and engagement for students, alumni and fans," said KSU Associate Vice President for Development Scott Bryant.
Gilbert graduated from the University of Alabama in 1995 and in 2007 earned his MBA from the University of Tennessee. He played linebacker for the Crimson Tide from 1985-88. He was selected in the fifth round of the 1989 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears and spent time with the Colts (1990), Raiders (1990-91) and Eagles (1991) before playing in the World League of American Football with the San Antonio Riders (1991) and Barcelona Dragons (1991-92).
