Ashley Crenshaw begins her third season as an assistant coach for the Kennesaw State University women’s volleyball program in 2012. She assists with all aspects of coaching, including recruiting, practice and game preparation, and player development.
During her two seasons as an assistant for head coach Karen Weatherington, Crenshaw has helped the Owls compile and overall record of 30-26 (.526). During her first year on staff, Kennesaw State had a record-breaking season as it established a single-season record for winning percentage (.607) and tied the single-season mark for wins (17).
Crenshaw was no stranger to Kennesaw State and its volleyball program when she arrived on campus in 2010 as she worked numerous KSU volleyball camps. She began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Hoover High School in Hoover, Ala.
A standout volleyball player at the University of Albany, Crenshaw helped lead the Great Danes to three straight American East Conference titles and NCAA Championship Tournament appearances. She also was a first team All-America East selection in 2006, and was named second team all-conference in 2005 and 2007. Crenshaw concluded her career ranked among the school’s top 10 in kills (1,043) and total blocks (317).
A native of Hoover, Ala., Crenshaw came to Kennesaw State after serving in the University of Alabama-Birmingham’s athletic academic services department. In 2009, she was selected to be part of the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA) Minority Coaches Workshop during the AVCA Convention and NCAA Final Four in Tampa, Fla.
Crenshaw currently resides in Smyrna, Ga.
