Keith Detelj

Keith Detelj enters his third season as an assistant coach at Kennesaw State in 2023. He joined the Owls staff in November of 2021.

Detelj brings a wealth of experience to the Owls, most recently having spent the past five years as head coach at SUNY New Paltz. At KSU, he will work with coaching the goalkeepers and assist with the offense.

"We are so excited to add Keith to our coaching staff," said Maness. "Adding a current head coach onto our staff will truly elevate the program to new levels. He has vast experience in coaching and will bring great ideas to further develop our program on the field. He is an experienced recruiter and will assist in bringing future Owls for years to come. We are expecting our program to reach new heights this year and I believe Keith's vision, energy, and talent will help us achieve our team goals."

In his five years at SUNY New Paltz, he oversaw all aspects for the Hawks and guided them to the first winning record in program history at 5-3 this past spring. The team also had a program-best five all-conference selections this past season, and a total of nine during his five seasons.

Detelj was also the head women's lacrosse coach at Nassau Community College in 2014-15, and led the team to a NJCAA Division III Final Four appearance as well as a regional championship title. He was also the 2015 District Coach of the Year and had seven players named all-region. From 2012-14, he served as assistant coach for the program.
He also spent one season as the top assistant coach for Marist men's soccer for the 2016 season.

Detelj was a dual-sport athlete at Marist, as he was a three-time First Team All-MAAC selection as well as the 2005 MAAC Tournament MVP for the men's lacrosse squad. He also set the Marist College Division I record for most career points (89) and goals (36) for the men's soccer team. During his four years on the team, he was All-MAAC three times, two-time MAAC Tournament MVP, as well as second-team all-region in 2004 and 2005. He played one year in the USL with the Dayton Dutch Lions, and spent three years in the USL Premier Development League with the Long Island Rough Riders, the Westchester Flames and the Fort Wayne Fever. Detelj graduated from Marist in May of 2007 with a bachelor's degree in biology.
